Choral Programs for Children + Youth
Christ Church Cherub Choir (K-2 Students)
The Cherub Choir is a wonderful way for all rising kindergarteners through second graders to make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 4:45 - 5:30 p.m. in the church. We sing in church monthly at the 9 a.m. service. No experience required and no sign up necessary!
Christ Church Choristers
The Christ Church Choristers have three main components, the training choir (grades 3-6), the full choristers (grades 6.5 - 12), and the lay clerks (the professional singers who make up the altos, tenors and basses of the choir).
The Training Choir (Boys and Girls, grades 3 - 6)
This choir is primarily focused on teaching young children to read, understand, and sing classical music at a pace appropriate for their age range while building community and camaraderie with fellow Christians and Christ Church members. Rehearsals are Sundays, 1 - 2:30 p.m., and every other Tues., 6 - 7:30 p.m., (dinner included) and they sing one Sunday morning every month as well as evensong at Duke Chapel and for lessons and carols.
The Full Choristers (Girls & Boys whose voices haven’t changed, grades 7 - 12)
The Full Choristers are girls or boys with treble voices who sing cathedral level classical music for Sunday morning services, services of choral evensong, concerts, collaborations with Duke Chapel, and on tour (previous tours include New York City, Washington DC, and Colonial Williamsburg). In addition to rehearsals, Sundays from 1 - 3 p.m., and every other Tuesday night from 6 - 7:30 p.m., (dinner included), they receive private instruction in voice and music reading.
