Confirmation

Defend, O Lord, your servant with your heavenly grace, that he/she may continue yours for ever, and daily increase in your Holy Spirit more and more, until he/she comes into your everlasting kingdom.

Fundamentals of Faith : Adult Confirmation Classes – Sundays in April
Beginning on Sunday, April 7, the clergy of Christ Church will lead a four-session class about the fundamentals of faith. This is a great class for those who are new to the Episcopal Church, new to Christ Church, and/or those who wish to deepen their faith. We will cover topics such as: The Book of Common Prayer, the sacraments and sacramental ways of life, why we have faith and the point of Christianity, and church history. These classes will also prepare those who wish to be confirmed, baptized, received, or reaffirmed when the bishop visits us on May 5. Classes will be held on Sunday mornings from 10:10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 7, 14, 21 and 28. Childcare will be provided. For more information, contact Parish Life Coordinator Cooper Bratton via cbratton@ccral.org or (919) 834-6259. Sign up via this link.

Many Christians are baptized as infants or young children, with parents and godparents making promises and commitments of faith for them.

The sacrament of confirmation is an opportunity for individuals to make a mature commitment to Christ – a responsibility that was once held by others on their behalf – and to reinvigorate their spiritual life.

Confirmation for teens and adults is preceded by a period of preparation, including learning more about prayer, their faith tradition and the Church. During the confirmation rite, confirmands renew their baptismal vows and the bishop lays hands and prays for the Holy Spirit to come upon them and to provide them with continuing strength.
