The announcement of The Rev. Jim Adams’ retirement marks an important moment in the life of Christ Church. After sixteen years of faithful ministry, there is much to celebrate and much to be grateful for. Jim will continue serving as our rector through June 1, 2027, giving our parish meaningful time to celebrate his ministry while thoughtfully preparing for the future.
Christ Church is a vibrant and growing parish, and we are grateful for the strong foundation Jim has helped build over his sixteen years with us. Our staff, Vestry, lay leaders, and ministries will continue their work throughout this transition. While a change in leadership is significant, it does not mean that the life of our parish stops or starts over. The ministries, worship, programs, relationships, and community that make Christ Church who we are will continue. This is an opportunity to honor what has been built here and to prayerfully consider where God is calling us next.
The Search for the 14th Rector of Christ Church
The Vestry has already begun working with Bishop Rodman and the Diocese of North Carolina to understand the process and timeline for our rector search. The anticipated timeline is:
- Fall 2026: The Vestry will select a rector search committee.
- November 2026: The search committee will begin holding congregational conversations to help develop a parish profile.
- February 2027: The parish profile is expected to be published.
- Spring 2027: The search committee will begin connecting with and talking with interested candidates.
- Summer 2027: The search committee is expected to bring a candidate to the Vestry for consideration.
Throughout the process, the search committee and Vestry will keep the congregation informed and provide opportunities for parishioners to participate and share their hopes for the future of Christ Church.
Celebrating Jim
One of the gifts of Jim’s decision to remain with us through June 2027 is the time it gives us. We do not have to rush this process. We have time to celebrate Jim, to listen to one another, to discern what we need in our next rector, and to prayerfully seek the person God is calling to serve Christ Church in the years ahead. In the coming months, there will be opportunities for the entire parish to be part of this process.
While we look ahead, we also want to make the most of the year we have together. Jim’s sixteen years at Christ Church have given us countless reasons to be grateful. We look forward to celebrating his ministry throughout the coming year and giving thanks for the many ways he has shaped and served our parish.
Christ Church’s mission will continue. And we are excited to discover what God has in store for our next chapter together.
This page will be updated as the rector search progresses. We will share important announcements, opportunities for parish participation, and updates from the search committee here.
Rector Search Committee – Completed on Sept. 3, 2026
We have finalized our Rector Search Committee and are grateful to the parishioners who have agreed to help guide Christ Church through this important process. We invite you to view the list of committee members by clicking here.
Congregational Conversations – October & November
The Rector Search Committee is inviting members of the parish to share their hopes, experiences, and perspectives on the future of Christ Church. The committee will host two opportunities for parishioners to participate in the conversation. Both gatherings will cover the same topics, so you are welcome to attend whichever date and time works best for you. There is no need to attend both. Learn more and RSVP here.
